Hive Beach

Step out of Big Sky and you're at Hive Beach in under a minute. This beautiful stretch of Chesil Beach is one of Dorset's most loved — a wide pebble shore backed by golden sandstone cliffs, with calm, clear water perfect for swimming, paddling, and rock pooling.

The beach is dog-friendly year-round, and the sunsets here are simply extraordinary. Pack a picnic, watch the fishing boats come in, or simply sit and listen to the waves.

Steps from the door

Hive Beach Cafe

The Hive Beach Cafe is a Dorset institution — a relaxed, award-winning beach café and restaurant right on the shore. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the freshest local seafood, Dorset crab, and lobster caught just offshore.

Whether it's a morning coffee watching the waves or a long lazy lunch with a glass of wine, the Hive is the kind of place you'll want to visit every day of your stay.

The village

Burton Bradstock

Burton Bradstock is one of Dorset's most charming villages — a cluster of golden stone and thatched cottages set in the Bride Valley, just inland from the coast. The village has a welcoming pub, a local shop, and a lovely church, all within easy walking distance.

It's the kind of place where you slow down. Explore the footpaths through the water meadows, follow the South West Coast Path along the cliffs, or simply wander the lanes and take it all in.
